Did you know that Google receives over 3.8 trillion searches per minute? (Source: Search Engine Land). This makes Google My Business a critical part of your SEO strategy.
That’s a pretty hefty figure. And if you’re a business owner and have an online presence, it’s important that your business is configured correctly to tap into this search volume and ensure online success.
Establishing a conspicuous online presence is absolutely critical to your business’s success. Cracking the top 3 search listings for your location will help drive more traffic to your website or physical location. That’s where Google My Business can help.
So what exactly is Google My Business?
Google My Business is a free and easy-to-use tool for businesses and organizations to manage their online presence across Google, including Search and Maps. By verifying and editing your business information, you can both help customers find you and tell them the story of your business. By maintaining and monitoring your GMB listing you’ll also be able to reply to customer reviews.
GMB is a powerful tool that allows your business name to appear at the top of searches. When somebody searches your business name, your GMB listing will appear next to the top search results. This will display all of your business information in a clear, easy-to-read format.
How do I set up my Google My Business page?
Simply create a Google account or sign in with your existing account. We always recommend creating a separate Google account primarily for your business and leaving your personal one for yourself. It’s best to configure your new Google account with a generic business email address, such as info@yourbusinessname.com.au or support@yourbusinessname.com.au.
Once you have created your account simply follow the steps to create your Google My Business Listing. Be sure to include all relevant information to your business, including street address, website, phone number, email address, hours, logo and a few photos. It’s important that your information is consistent across all of your platforms (for example your Facebook page, Google listing, Website).
So I’m all set, now what?
Great! It’s time to promote your business and build reviews. Google Reviews are an important way to build trust with potential customers. Take some time to compile a “review email” template and distribute it to your existing customer base, requesting them to review your products or services. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can build your reviews this way.
Try including a direct link to your Google review page in your email signature, or any other marketing material you regularly distribute. You can generate your custom link by visiting the Google Review Link generation page created by Supple.
