From July 1st 2023, Webedge will no longer be offering RI Advice maintenance & updates packages for Joomla-based websites. This includes website updates, CMS updates, plugin updates and website content edits for RI Advice Joomla-based websites.

The following FAQ highlights and answers how these changes will impact you and your website.

What is happening with my website?

The CMS (Content Management System – Joomla) that your website is founded on, and your website template itself, is over 10 years old. This means your website is reaching a critical security phase and requires significant upgrades or a complete rebuild in order to continue running at peak performance. From July 1st 2023 Webedge will no longer be able to provide support and updates for websites running on this outdated software.

Why is this change taking place?

From July 1st 2023, compatible software updates will no longer be available for the software version that is currently running on your website, and as the latest version of your CMS is incompatible with your current website theme your website requires significant structural modifications in order to continue being receptive to necessary updates. As such, Webedge has taken the decision to no longer provide support for websites running on this outdated software.

What date is the change occurring?

July 1st, 2023.

What do I need to do to ensure my website is up-to-date and secure?

For RI Advice clients who wish to continue using the current version of their website, for the ongoing support you will need to arrange migration to another RI supplier. Please contact Insignia’s Head Office for a list of their approved suppliers.

What will happen to the automated RI news feed?

From July 1st this feed will no longer continue to operate, as the feed license for each website will expire. Your best option is to switch to another RI supplier that offers similar functionality. Please contact Insignia’s Head Office for a list of their approved suppliers.

What happens with my website hosting?

If you choose to do nothing prior to July 1st, your hosting will remain unaffected, and your billing plan will switch to a new lower-cost Hosting-only plan. Please note these plans do not include website support or maintenance.

What will my new monthly website hosting pricing be?

From July 1st 2023, your ongoing plan will revert to your nearest base website hosting equivalent. For most, this will mean reverting to our Personal Hosting plan ($16.50 p/m) – a full breakdown of pricing and inclusions can be found by visiting our Website Hosting page.

What happens if I do nothing?

If you choose to do nothing your website will continue to remain active online and hosted with Webedge, however, it will not be updated or maintained by Webedge. It may also pose a serious security risk to our Hosting Provider. In such scenarios where the website is compromised, our Hosting Provider may disable the website without notice. In the event of this happening the onus will be on the client to remedy the situation and arrange migration or upgrade of the website.

What will happen to my email if I move host?

For many, your email is hosted with an external provider (such as Office 365 or Workspace) and as such, will remain unaffected. For clients hosting their emails through Webedge, you will need to arrange for an email migration with your new supplier.
